It suspends the Nereid-oil complex in the ocean subsurface to allow marine bacteria to biodegrade the oil. Nereid 640 is a specialty blend of microparticles of minerals which attracts oil to its surface and entraps it within its porous structure to create micro-droplets, thus enabling the remediation of oil spills in an eco-friendly manner compared to chemical dispersants in current use today.

BP is also in control of the U.S. Coast Guard which has threatened reporters with arrest that have gotten to close.

Just days after BP managed to successfully cap the deepwater oil well that’s been gushing freely into the Gulf of Mexico for almost 3 months, officials are reporting that mysterious seepage is coming up from the seabed a small distance from the busted oil well.

Video: Oil Eating Mushrooms Could Help Dispose of Waste

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A test is planned for next week on an innovative plan to use mushrooms to dispose of the oil collected during the cleanup of the bay oil spill.

“I think San Francisco is going to revolutionize oil spill cleanup,” Lisa Gautier with MatterofTrust.Org told KRON 4′s Kate Thompson.

Volunteers are working now to get hair mats used by oil cleanup workers back from the company in charge of the clean-up effort. Hundreds of hair mats soaked with oil are now awaiting disposal. Workers used the mats because human hair does such a good job of absorbing oil.

The plan is to layer the hair mats between stacks of oyster mushrooms and straw.

“It will make a compost heap and within twelve weeks it will detoxify,” Gautier added. “Then it will be non-toxic landscape-grade compost.”

The Presidio trust is donating space to conduct the experiment. Work is set to get underway Tuesday.

June 04, 2010 — At lunchtime on the 4th of June, protesters stormed the doors of BP’s corporate office at 1101 NY Ave in NW DC.

After a rally outside featuring a giant oil drum, people crossed the street and pushed through the outer doors of the lobby, intending to make a “citizen’s arrest” of BP executives for the oil spill off the Gulf Coast. The spill was described by Rev Yearwood (who is from Louisiana) as “worse than Katrina” for African-American and Native-American fishermen on the Gulf Coast, as it will probably result in a possible permanent end to their way of life.

The attempt to take BP executives into custody for their crimes was not a success, though someone brought old-school striped jail jumpsuits for them. perhaps some better luck with Gitmo(and DC Jail)-orange jumpsuits and a Black Bloc to arrange delivery next time? Or how about none of us at all-just a bunch of pissed-off fisherman, their boats docked on the Potomac River, seeking to take these BP bastards out on a cruise?

Emerging reports are raising the question of just how much of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill journalists are able to document.
When CBS tried to film a beach with heavy oil on the shore in South Pass, Louisiana, a boat of BP contractors, and two Coast Guard officers, told them to turn around, or be arrested. “This is BP’s rules, it’s not ours,” someone aboard the boat said. Coast Guard officials told CBS that they’re looking into it. As the Coast Guard is a branch of the Armed Forces, it brings into question how closely the government and BP are working together to keep details of the disaster in the dark

Previous attempts to use emergency valves and a 100-ton container had failed to stop the leak that has spilled MILLION OF GALLONS of crude oil into the Gulf, threatening sea life, commercial fishing and the coastal tourism industry

Scientists are finding enormous oil plumes in the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico, including one as large as 10 miles long, 3 miles wide and 300 feet thick in spots. The discovery is fresh evidence that the leak from the broken undersea well could be substantially worse than estimates that the government and BP have given. Theres a shocking amount of oil in the deep water, relative to what you see in the surface water, said Samantha Joye, a researcher at the University of Georgia who is involved in one of the first scientific missions to gather details about what is happening in the gulf. Theres a tremendous amount of oil in multiple layers, three or four or five layers deep in the water column.

Alabama resident John Wathen and a volunteer pilot, Tom Hutchins, flew over the Gulf Of Mexico, surveying the spread of oil related contaminants, cleanup efforts, and the area where the oil rig sank. What they saw will shock you, oil sheen, heavy streaking, discolored water, and a massive red mass of floating goo, all of which dwarfed the boats dragging booms in hopes of containing at least a few drops.The disaster appears to be MUCH LARGER than admitted, and this footage was taken May 7, 2010, over a week ago! Officials have stopped guessing at the amount of oil leaking although some speculate it may be closer to 1 million gallons per day. Don’t let BP spin this into something trivial.

“It’s not a leak, it’s a volcano spewing oil” and no that doesn’t mean an ACTUAL volcano, it is a figure of speech! There is much we are not being told, and there is much not being done to contain it. This ‘leak’ is not just killing a few dolphins or coating a few birds, it is killing the entire ocean. There are reports of 4-5 UNDERWATER LAYERS of oil now, in addition to the lighter components in crude oil, which will rise to the top quickly, expanding rapidly to gas form.

W R Whiteside has large reserves and can process them quickly. We will have mobilization costs to produce quickly, for this emergency, the large quantities you need as soon as possible.

As a rule of thumb: 40,000 pounds of absorbent will absorb 8,500 gallons of oil (under optimal conditions.)

With your assistance I believe we can consistently produce 60 to 120 ton per day of bulk material to be shipped in 20 or 40 foot containers.
